The Democracy Research Cluster conducts socio-political research on contemporary issues in democracy, focusing primarily on civic space and democratic resilience. Research in this area generates new knowledge that bridges academic inquiry and critical analytical approaches to address issues concerning human rights, civil liberties, and democracy.

The Social and Political Inclusion Research Cluster is a collaborative research group operating under PUSKAPOL UI that focuses on promoting equal citizen participation in social and political life. Employing an intersectional approach, the cluster addresses the inequalities and discrimination frequently faced by various vulnerable groups, including women, persons with disabilities, and youth. Its research activities comprise two types: basic research aimed at advancing knowledge, and applied research designed to drive evidence-based policy change.

The Environment and Energy Research Cluster conducts socio-political research concerning environmental sustainability and the energy transition. Focusing on climate change, the energy transition, and environmental sustainability, the cluster promotes increased socio-political research regarding efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and conserve natural resources. The cluster adopts an interdisciplinary approach to ensure comprehensive solutions—particularly for policymakers—to complex issues, while also promoting effective environmental and energy policies.
