The opening remarks were delivered by Admira Dini Salim, Director of IFES Indonesia; Alex Oates, First Secretary of the Justice and Democratic Governance Unit at DFAT; Viryan, Member of the Indonesian General Elections Commission; Dr. Ratna Dewi Pettalolo, Member of the Election Supervisory Board; and Dr. Arie Setiabudi Soesilo, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Indonesia.
An overview of the She Leads Indonesia 2021 program was presented by Hurriyah in her role as Project Manager. Five years ago, capacity building training aimed at preparing women to serve as election administrators was conducted offline and made a meaningful contribution to increasing women’s participation at both national and local levels.
This year, although the program was held online, participant enthusiasm remained high, with 158 individuals taking part. The training was also supported by ten facilitators with strong experience in gender and electoral issues, ensuring the sessions ran effectively.
It is expected that Module 1 of She Leads Indonesia 2021 will bring broader benefits and further encourage equal participation of women as election administrators in Indonesia.
