The General Election Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (KPU RI) has determined the vote count in the Simultaneous Elections (Presidential Election, Legislative Election for the DPR, DPD, and Provincial/District/City DPD) on May 21, 2019.
Although marked by debate raised by some election participants, the confirmation of the results of the Simultaneous Elections marks the completion of a crucial stage and the transition to the next phase, the election dispute process. Nevertheless, the public certainly needs to know more about the faces that will grace the Parliament Complex in Senayan.
What do the DPR-RI and DPD-RI look like as a result of the 2019 elections? What are the backgrounds of the legislative candidates’ electability in these elections? How do kinship and clientelism influence the electability of legislative candidates?
This media release will explain the provisional seat results from the 2019 Legislative Elections, as well as present an analysis by the UI’s Puskapol regarding the portrait of the electability of legislative candidates.
The data we collected is based on the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU RI) decision, ratified on May 21, 2019. There is a possibility that the data will change due to the ongoing vote dispute process at the Constitutional Court. Therefore, out of respect for the vote dispute process at the Constitutional Court, we urge all parties to view our analysis as a prediction and provisional in nature.
Note: There has been a revision/change in data regarding the list of the top 10 female legislative candidates who received the most votes in the DPR-RI.
