Jakarta: The NasDem and PKS parties are seen as the biggest beneficiaries of the 2019 presidential election nominations. Aditya Perdana, Executive Director of the Center for Political Studies (Puskapol) at the University of Indonesia’s Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP UI), observed that these two parties secured the most significant vote gains in the 2019 legislative election (Pileg).

“NasDem and PKS appear to have achieved an increase in both seats and votes due to the presidential nominations, though this still needs to be confirmed by them,” Aditya said during a discussion in the Cikini area, Central Jakarta, on Sunday, May 26, 2019.

Aditya detailed that in the 2014 election, NasDem only secured 35 seats in the House of Representatives (DPR), whereas in this election, they are predicted to claim 59 seats. Meanwhile, PKS, which held 40 DPR seats in the 2014 election, is currently projected to win 50 seats.
