The Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia, together with the Political Science Student Association (HMIP) of FISIP UI, held a meeting with the class of 2026 on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Mochtar Riyadi Auditorium, FISIP UI. This activity served as an introductory space for new students to get to know the academic and student environment in the Department of Political Science better, starting from the Department and Study Programs, lecturers, the Center for Political Studies (PUSKAPOL), and HMIP as a student organization.
This meeting was designed to provide the incoming class of 2026 with an overview of the environment that will be part of their journey during their studies in Political Science at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia. In addition to introducing academic and institutional elements, the event also provided an opportunity for new students to become familiar with various avenues for personal development, including academic activities, research, and student organizations.
The event began with an introduction to the Department of Political Science, FISIP UI, delivered by the Head of the Department, Dr. Phil. Panji Anugrah Permana, S.I.P., M.Si. Students were introduced to the Department’s environment and the various elements that support academic life in Political Science, FISIP UI.
Next, Ikhsan Darmawan, S.Sos., M.Si., Ph.D., Head of the Undergraduate Political Science Study Program, introduced the Undergraduate Political Science Study Program and provided an overview of the curriculum and academic process students will undergo. Muhammad Imam also introduced the Study Program’s management elements to the class of 2026.
Students were also introduced to lecturers from the Department of Political Science, including Dr. Nurul Nurhandjati, S.I.P., M.Si. This session provided an opportunity for new students to get to know the instructors better and gain an overview of the diverse fields of study within the FISIP UI Political Science environment.
The series of activities then continued with a sharing session with Dr. Andrinof Achir Chaniago, M.Si. This sharing session provided a space for new students to hear experiences and perspectives on academic life as a Political Science student and to examine the relationship between political science and various public issues and societal dynamics.
On the same occasion, Dr. Hurriyah introduced the Center for Political Studies (PUSKAPOL) FISIP UI to the class of 2026 students. This introduction provided an overview of PUSKAPOL’s role as a space for political studies and research within FISIP UI, while also introducing students to various research activities, publications, and knowledge development that they can recognize during their studies. Then, it was also explained that PUSKAPOL UI upholds the value of non-violence and opens opportunities for UI Political Science students to be actively involved in PUSKAPOL UI activities.
From a student life perspective, the Political Science Student Association (HMIP) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia (FISIP UI) also introduced the roles and activities of students within the Department of Political Science. As a student organization, HMIP provides a platform for students to develop organizational experience, build networks, and participate in various activities outside the classroom.
Apart from the introductory session, class of 2026 students also received training regarding the do’s and don’ts of being UI Political Science students. This provision is part of an effort to help students understand academic and student life, including undergoing the lecture process, organizing and interacting in the campus environment.
Through a collaboration between the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia (FISIP UI), PUSKAPOL (Political Student Association), and HMIP (Political Student Association), this activity is expected to provide students in the class of 2026 with a more comprehensive understanding of the FISIP UI Political Science ecosystem. Students are introduced not only to the academic environment through the Department and Study Program, but also to research through PUSKAPOL and to self-development and organizational development through HMIP.
This meeting is the first step for students of the class of 2026 to get to know the FISIP UI Political Science community and find various spaces to learn, participate, and develop during their academic journey.
